When Roger Murphy started the feedyard in 1959, it was a way to keep busy between planting and harvest. Within a year's time it became a year-round operation. From its humble beginnings as a 2,500-head feedyard to its current capacity of 27,000, it continues to be one of the oldest and most successful feedyards in the state of Kansas.
Why this ongoing success? The answer is a dedication to the success of our customers. In this fast-paced and ever-changing world, Great Bend Feeding, Inc. has been a solid point of business for its customers. Not many feedyards can claim the same longevity or success.
For over 40 years, the people of Great Bend Feeding, Inc. have made a difference in the cattle feeding industry and they continue to do so today. Roger Murphy remains part owner of the feedyard. Ike Bartels is working on his 18th year with the company and is in charge of the commodity buying and cattle marketing. Stability is a word that could be used to describe our business. This family-owned and operated company has kept up with the times and is charging ahead with confidence. We look forward to serving our customers for another 40 years in this industry
